Special Olympics Tennessee has announced that the 2024 Cheatham County Polar Plunge originally scheduled for Saturday, January 20, 2024, and rescheduled for Sunday, January 21 has been canceled due to a deteriorating weather forecast of single-digit temperatures and potentially hazardous road conditions expected throughout the weekend. Registered participants and volunteers for the Cheatham County Polar Plunge are asked to check their email for further updates on participation in future events, virtual participation, and incentive pick-up options.

As of the afternoon of Thursday, January 18, $22,000 had already been raised in support for Special Olympics athletes in Cheatham County with the expectation of surpassing last year’s total of $23,000 by the day of the event. In only its second year, the Cheatham County Polar Plunge was expected to be one of the largest fundraising events for the area.
