War Eagles Close Season with Win, 14-1 Record

-Daryell Smith

On May 3, the Sycamore War Eagles men's soccer team closed their regular season with senior night and a hard-fought game against the Montgomery Central Indians.

Neither team could gain a foothold or set dominance until midway through the first half when senior Landon Gleaves hit the net for the War Eagles on a penalty kick.

As the second half progressed, it was a replay of the first half with both teams threatening but unable to score.

Finally, the home team was able to score again, and with under two minutes remaining, the War Eagles hit the net again to solidify the win.

The War Eagles ended their regular season with a 14-1 record and secured first place in the district; they will host the semi finals in the district playoffs.
