Thomason Becomes Cheatham High's First Female Wrestler to Take First at Regional Tournament

The TSSAA Girls West Regional Wrestling Tournament was held on January 29 and 30 at Seigel High School.


Cheatham County Central High School girls competing were Trinity Smith (103 lbs) and Amanda Thomason (112 lbs). Smith finished the tournament 1-2 and Thomason finished first in her weight class. Thomason's accomplishment has made her the first girl at Cheatham County Central High to finish first at regionals and will be the second girl to compete at the state tournament.

Savanna Williams competed for Sycamore High School (190 lbs) and finished the tournament 0-2.

The boys also competed on January 30 at Seigel High in the TSSAA JV State Wrestling Tournament. Representing Cheatham County Central High were the following wrestlers and their standings: Cody Andrews (106 lbs) 3rd place, Sumner Boyd (113 lbs) 1st place, Justin Andrews (113 lbs) 0-2, Jason Thomason (113 lbs) 0-2, Bryan Otey (120 lbs) 2-2, Adan Alvarez (126 lbs) 3rd place, Owen Carney (126 lbs) 1-2, Ethan Steele (145 lbs) 0-2, Kendall Monk (160 lbs) 1-2, Ian Reed (170 lbs) 1-2, Landon Morris (182 lbs) 3-2, and Rolen Prater (285 lbs) 1-2.
