Sycamore High School basketball sensation, Izzy McPherson, celebrated her signing to University of Tennessee-Chattanooga earlier this afternoon. In a ceremony held at the school, past, present, and future coaches, teammates, family, and friends surrounded the star athlete as she made her dream to play college basketball a reality.

In addition to being a four-year player for the Lady War Eagles, McPherson played AAU basketball with Futurz, TN Sol, and United Family based out of Louisville on the Adidas Circuit. Over the years, the 5'10" shooting guard has racked up two District 9AA MVP awards, was named to the 2023 All-Region Team, and joined the 1,000-point Club on February 17, 2022.

McPherson has also been a member of the Sycamore Lady War Eagles Volleyball team all four seasons of her high school career, and was named to the all-district team each year.

"Playing college basketball has always been a dream of mine, and UTC is giving me the best opportunity to live out that dream," McPherson told The Post. "I chose UTC because of how invested the coaches are in me- not just as a player, but as a person. Coach Poppie and his staff were so confident and supportive of me throughout my whole recruiting process. After visiting, I fell in love with the city, team, and culture being built in this program. I am so grateful for Coach Poppie, Jay, Jon, and KG for showing me all the love and believing in me. Go Mocs!"

While her college major is currently undecided, McPherson is positive she will one day find herself coaching basketball in her post-college future.

"I could not be more proud of Izzy," said War Eagle Head Coach Cody King. "I can't think of anyone more deserving. This day is a testament to all the hard work she has put in over the years. As good as she is on the court, she is an even better individual off of it. She is a great leader and displays great character and maturity. UTC is getting a good one!"
