Sycamore High Wrestlers Compete in District, Division Tournaments


Sycamore High School wrestlers fared well in the division tournaments last week (Angie Camper)


The 2021-2022 TSSAA District 14 High School Division 1 A-AA Wrestling Duals were held at Fairview High School on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. There were six high school teams competing in the Duals Tournament: Fairview, Sycamore, Harpeth, Montgomery Central, Cheatham County Central, and Creekwood.

In the first rounds, Creekwood was eliminated with a 24-54 loss to Harpeth, and Cheatham County Central was eliminated with a 30-39 loss to Montgomery Central.


In the second rounds, Montgomery Central was eliminated with a loss to Fairview by a score of 30-48 while Harpeth was eliminated with a loss to Sycamore by a score of 33-45.

This set-up the District 14 finals match between Fairview, the defending 2020-2021 TSSAA A-AA Duals State Champion, and Sycamore. Sycamore gave Fairview a strong duals battle before ultimately succumbing with a loss of 36-42 to establish Fairview as the District Duals Champions for District 14.


The 2021-2022 TSSAA Division 1 A-AA Region 7 High School Wrestling Duals were held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at Fairview High School between the District 14 Champions and Runner-up (Fairview and Sycamore) and the District 13 Champions and Runner-up (Martin Luther King and Hillwood). In the first rounds, Martin Luther King was eliminated by Sycamore with a loss of 36-39, while Hillwood was eliminated by Fairview with a loss of 15-64.


The Region 7 finals turned out to be a rematch of the District 14 finals between Fairview and Sycamore. Again, Sycamore displayed a valiant effort before eventually succumbing to the defending State Dual Champions, Fairview, by a score of 36-47.
