The idea to open up their own catering business came to husband-and-wife duo Kaelynn Mooningham and Dan Waggoner after many of Kay's side-business customers told her she should "make a career out of it."

In April of 2021, Kay began selling sweet treats and cakes out of her home. Now joined by her husband, a Navy Veteran and seasoned chef who has "incredible taste in creating flavor and an extensive knowledge for food," Dan & Kays has since expanded their line of services to include catering and custom event services. This expansion prompted them to recently obtain brick-and-mortar space located at 6320 US-41 ALT Suite 200 (A) in Pleasant View.

In addition to the tasty goods Dan & Kay's offers, clients can also order items like invitations, cake toppers, party favors, and supplies for their events.

"I have been obsessed with the little things that make events so special for as long as I can remember," Kay tells The Post.

"From seeing a sweet, personalized treat as a wedding favor, or a special phrase that means so much to the host... I thought “what if I could create those moments? What if I could help people make the event they dreamed of and only had to worry about fellowship with their guest?” And it went from there!"
