Cheatham County Animal Control is asking for the community’s help as kitten season arrives and intake numbers continue to rise. Shelter staff say their supply of wet kitten food is disappearing quickly as they care for a growing number of young kittens and nursing mother cats entering the facility.
According to the shelter, intake numbers on especially busy days can reach 15–25 cats and kittens in less than eight hours.
Young kittens require soft food multiple times throughout the day, while nursing mothers require additional nutrition to support their litters.
The shelter is specifically requesting donations of wet kitten food, which can be shipped directly through the organization’s Amazon Wishlist or dropped off in person.
Donations can be delivered to:
Cheatham County Animal Control2797 Sams Creek RdPegram, TN 37143
Open: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
While the shelter is closed on Wednesdays and Sundays, staff say donations may still be left in the lobby on those days.
For those interested in donating through the shelter’s Amazon Wishlist, visit: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/34MFP2V4SJ9YJ
Shelter staff say every donation, no matter the size, helps ensure kittens and nursing mothers receive the nutrition they need during one of the busiest times of the year.
