The Cheatham County School District released this press release ahead of the extreme temperatures forecasted next week:
We are closely monitoring the extreme cold temperatures and snow forecasted for next week. While no changes to our schedule have been made at this time, we want to assure you that the safety of our students and staff is a top priority.
As a precaution, our schools will be sending home materials and laptops with students today to ensure continued learning in the event of any schedule changes.
If we are out of school next week due to the weather, students are encouraged to complete Aleks pathways and Beable lessons, if applicable. Additionally, elementary students will bring home books to read to ensure that they continue with reading every day.
We are taking every measure to ensure that buses will be ready to run. However, in extreme cold temperatures, buses have difficulty starting, running and functioning.
We always encourage families to have an emergency plan for their children in case there are closures due to the weather.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue to assess the weather. Should there be any adjustments to our schedule, we will notify you promptly through our usual communication channels.
As a reminder, all schools and district offices will be closed on Monday, January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we navigate these potential weather challenges together.
