Sassey’s Sweet Shop to Have New Owners

July 21, 2021 (Micca Terrell)

Sassey’s Sweet Shop, Ashland City’s home for delicious baked goods and other sweet treats, will soon have new owners.

Owner Debbie Biersdorfer said she is selling the shop because the last year and a half has taken its toll.

“We worked so hard for five years to get the business where it is, but my health won’t let me keep on. I’ve got to slow down a bit,” Biersdorfer said.

She accepted bids on Sassey’s through July 16. “I’m selling as a turnkey situation. Whoever buys it can walk in and start their business. Our name has gotten five-star ratings among customers,” she said.

Biersdorfer has received calls from several people who are interested in purchasing the shop. She expects that the new owners will have an influx of customers because of the new hotel and apartments being built across the highway from the shop and down the street.

“I hope somebody comes there and loves it like we did. People know of it and support it. People from Nashville would come for the cinnamon rolls,” she said.

Charity work for Cheatham County’s less fortunate will continue, though, Biersdorfer explained. She and local churches joined forces in January 2020 for “Hugs for Cheatham County,” a diaper drive and blanket collection. The goods were donated to local law enforcement, fire departments, senior centers, foster care, nursing homes, and anyone who needed them.

Sassey’s Sweet Shop is located at 189 Monroe Place, Suite 106, Ashland City.
