As the travel revolution kicked into high gear last year with people traveling everywhere, spreading out to thousands of towns and cities, and staying for weeks, months, or even longer, it’s clear older adult Airbnb hosts in Tennessee directly benefited.

Earlier this month, Airbnb released new data on its older adult host community in the state:

  • In 2021, older adult hosts in Tennessee earned approximately $54 million through hosting on Airbnb.

  • Additionally, the typical income for an older adult Host in Tennessee was nearly $14,000, which represents nearly 30 percent of the median retirement income for those 65 and older.

  • According to a survey of our Host community in Tennessee, 26 percent said they were retired.

.As of September 2021, nearly 90 percent of reviews of older adult hosts were five-star reviews, and over 30-percent of globally-ranked "super hosts" were older.

While the host community spans numerous generations, older adults are among the most beloved, Airbnb says.
