Royal Carter Barnes, age 87, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022.
He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on August 1, 1935, to the late Joe Barnes and Edna Harper. Carter is preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Midge Pentecost, and Katherine Blythe; his first love, Joan Hudson; and his companion of 47 years, Helen Shores.
He is survived by his son, Randy (Jonnalyn) Barnes; brothers, Gary (Kay) Barnes, John (Cathy) Barnes, Ronnie (Margie) Barnes, Robert, and Joe Barnes; sisters, Christine Hamlin, Polly Elliott, and Jean (James) Wolf; one grandchild, Jacob Barnes; loyal best friend Gloria (Dwight) Lindsay; sons by choice, Ronnie (Charlotte) Shores and Terry (Bettye) Shores; and his beloved cat Sue.
