Paul P. Gelep, age 91, passed away on October 29 at his home in Henderson Kentucky after a battle with cancer. He was a resident of Thomasville Community (Chapmansboro) in Cheatham County for 28 years.
Paul was born in Fitchburg Massachusetts on September 1, 1930 to Constantine and Helen (Kokolias) Gelep. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joane (Sumner) Gelep, daughters, Susan (Michael) Smith, Betsy (Keith) Ray, Constance (Richard) Beck, six grandchildren, Jordan (Emily) Gelep, Amanda (Matt) Littlepage, Nikolas Vierkant, Aaron Golday, Emily (Phillip) Hasty and Lawton Vierkant as well as five great grandchildren, Sophie Golday, Chandler Littlepage, Parker Littlepage, Brinnley Hasty and Coraline Gelep. Also survived by his sister, Betsy (Ken) O'Connell, and several cousins. nieces and nephews.
Paul was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was very involved in campaigning for people running for office in Cheatham County, as well as in state elections, into his 80s. All who knew him will remember his laughter, his smile and his love of life. He was a member of Kol Dodi Messianic Congregation in Nashville. Paul served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
Funeral services were held at Tomblinson Funeral Home in Henderson KY. Burial with military honors was at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville KY.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 21 from 2:00 to 4:00 at Swezey's Pub in Pleasant View TN.
