James “Jim” Mason Lemons, Jr., age 75 of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Sunday, May 14, 2023 at St. Thomas Midtown in Nashville. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View at 2:00PM on Sunday, May 21st. Please come feeling free to share a memory. Burial will follow at EverRest of Cheatham with family & friends serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Lemons was born on May 6, 1948, in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Mason & Virginia Roskam Lemons. After graduating from Austin Peay State University in 1970, he began his career as a history teacher at Pleasant View Elementary where he also started the band program and coached the boys’ basketball team. In 1979 he moved to Sycamore Jr. High where he also was a basketball coach, taught art, history, and was the photographer for the yearbook. He became the assistant principal in 1996 until 2010 when he retired after 40 years of education all in Cheatham County. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Wayne Lemons. Survivors include his wife, Glenda Binkley Lemons; sons, Jared Lemons and Jeffrey Lemons; aunt, Evelyn (Ray) Bell; niece, Melyssa Beasley; and nephew, Tim Lemons.
