James “Herman” Akins, age 88 of Springfield, Tennessee, died Friday, October 23, 2020 at NorthCrest Medical Center.
Mr. Akins was born on June 2, 1932, in Williamson County, Tennessee to the late George “Henry” and “Lillie” Edna Tidwell Akins. He was retired from Rechiold Chemical Company. He was a Christian.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughters, Darlene Akins and Donna Akins Neighbors; and brothers, G.H., Oscar, Leslie, and Jimmy Akins.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Dorothy Akins; son, James Henry Akins; a brother, Ernest Akins; a sister, Joyce (Kenny) Houchin; grandchildren, Karen Fitts Sloan, Dayna Claiborne, Brandon Claiborne, B.J. Neighbors, Brent Neighbors, and Melody (Justin) Hopper; great-grandchildren, Garret Sloan, Tanner Sloan, Tyler Jeanette, Wyatt, Cory, Maggie, and others; numerous nieces, nephews & loving friends; and special friends, Pam & Krista Binkley.
