Obituary: James “Coach” R. DeLoach, Sr., 68


James “Coach” R. DeLoach, Sr., age 68, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at The Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee.


He was born on August 23,1952 in Christian County, Kentucky, to Robert DeLoach and Martha Alice Lee DeLoach. James was a member of the CCHS Class of 1971. He was the right- hand man to Coach Ralph Spangler in football and always remained an active participant in the community. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Tony and William Clyde DeLoach.


He is survived by his sons, Jamie (Niki) DeLoach and Ricky (Marie) DeLoach; brothers, Tuney, Roy (Teresa), and Gene DeLoach; sisters, Judy (Frank) Hall, Wilda (John) Holder, and Gracie DeLoach Morgan.


Funeral service for Coach will be Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 12noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Reverend Penny Stratton officiating. Burial will follow in DeLoach Family Cemetery in Dickson, Tennessee.


Serving as active pallbearers will be Jamie DeLoach, Ricky DeLoach, Tony Bess, Trey DeLoach, Troy Tomlin, Jimmy Langdon, and Kip Stratton. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Steven Stratton, Roy DeLoach, John Holder, Tuney DeLoach, Gene DeLoach, and Michael Harris. In lieu of flowers, donations in Coach’s memory may be made to Alive Hospice or the charity of your choice.
