Doris Barr Gibbs, age 80 of Erwin, Tennessee, and formerly of Gastonia, North Carolina, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at her home at Governor’s Bend Assisted Living Facility.
Mrs. Gibbs was born on October 29, 1940 in Viburnum, Missouri to the late Ed and Alice Turnbough Barr. She was a retired executive secretary with BellSouth Telephone Company (now AT&T). Mrs. Gibbs was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Gastonia and faithfully served with her husband in his preaching ministry for 60 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Erma Lea Hogan, Georgia Hill, Finis Barr, and Ron Barr.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Rev. John Gibbs; son, Darin (Kim) Gibbs, daughter, Julie (Chris) Cline; brother, Tom (Patty) Barr; sisters, Marilyn (Don) Dungan, Janet (Lindell) Wood; grandchildren, Easton & Krestyn Cline, and Makenna, Julianna, Olivia, & Lyla Gibbs.
