Clarence Bates Jones, 87, of Ashland City, TN died January 6th, 2021 with his family by his side at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, TN.
Clarence was born October 21, 1933 in Scottsboro-Nashville, TN to Arthur & Erith (Bates) Jones.
He served in the US Army for 2 years; worked for Scott Bolt & Screw Barge Co; Walton Construction Company & Heavy Equipment Operator for Oman Construction Company. (30 years)
He enjoyed life riding/working on motorcycles, going to his children and grandchildren’s ballgames, wrestling matches, and drag races, working puzzles and just relaxing with his loving wife watching ballgames and westerns.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Velma (Peggy) J. (Demonbreun) Jones; three children, daughter Janice L (Jones) Weiss, (Mike Berry), son– Clarence (Eddie) Jones (Denise), & daughter– Karen F Jones; six grandchildren, Tiffany LeAnn (Spann) Holder (Mike Brown), Christopher Wayne Jones (Johanna), Jordan Bates Weiss (Baley Miles), Andrew James Weiss, Taylor McCullough (Rebecca), Devin Michael Kimble (Chelsey Arnold), Dalen Paul Kimble; three great grandchildren– Nathan Daniel Holder, Piper Marie Jones, Joseph Alexander McCullough;
Two sisters– Martha (Jones) Creekmur, Elba (Jones) McCullough (Gene)
One brother– William Cecil Jones
He was the BEST husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather we could have ever ask for ——He was the BOSS!!!!
Preceded in death by his father, Arthur Ulyess Jones; mother Erith Irene (Bates) Jones, brother Arthur U. Jones, JR., and son-in-law Howard Jeffrey Weiss.
