Charles “Boom Boom” L. Bamman, age 87, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away in his home on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on June 26, 1936, to the late Charles W. Bamman and Catherine Ozena (Gibbs) Bamman. He served in the United States Army in the 3rd Armored Division. Charles was a self-employed remodeling contractor and also worked for the Metro Sheriff’s Department. He was a Golden Glove Heavyweight Boxing Champion for several years. He loved to travel with his family, especially cruising. He visited all 50 states, as well as the Caribbean and most recently the Panama Canal.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Catherine Bamman; and sisters, Carolyn Lou Verdugo, Katherine Ozena Marrale, and Brenda Genevieve Gill.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen (Nesbitt) Bamman; sons, Charlie Bamman, Jr., (Teresa), and Walter Bamman; brother, Harold Bamman; grandchildren, Brandie Bamman Oakley (Patrick) and Charles Josh Bamman; and great grandchildren, Finn Oakley, Reagan Oakley, and Riley Oakley.
Funeral service will be Monday, October 9, 2023, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Gibbs Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday, October 8, 2023, from 12noon until 6pm. Masonic service will be Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 6pm. Visitation Monday, October 9, 2023, will be from 10am until the hour of service at 2pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Walter Bamman, Josh Bamman, Patrick Oakley, Timmy Bamman, Michael Osuna, Jamie Verdugo, and Eddie Harold Verdugo. Honorary pallbearers will be Finn Oakley, Eddie Verdugo, Bill Duke, Steve Smith, Rick Oden, Shane Osuna, Chris Bamman, Brody Gill, Sydney Tolbert, Lester Morris, Donnie Broadway, and the Kalb Hollow Club Members. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
