Carolyn Jean Newell, age 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family.
Carolyn was born in Minor Hill, Tennessee, on December 25, 1936, to the late Alfred Joe and Clara (White) Bassham.
She was a retired optometry technician for Cheatham County Vision Clinic and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jay Newell; daughter, Kimberly Hindman; grandson, Josh Hindman; and sisters, Lee Stevenson and Edith Green. She is survived by her sons, Tony Newell, Keith Newell (Angela), and Mitchell Newell (Patsy); grandchildren, Chapple Arnold, Bryant Newell, Caleb Newell, Jeremy Hindman, Justin Newell (Susan), Luke Newell (Dana), and Lydia Binkley (Ezra); 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Joan Balitsky and Lana Hogan (Bobby).
