No Kid Hungry recently announced their annual Summer Hunger Heroes awardees, 11 honorees from nine states across the country who have shown outstanding commitment to summer hunger relief. This year’s heroes have gone above and beyond to expand summer meals in rural communities and broaden the impact of summer nutrition programs.
One of the 2025 Summer Hunger Hero honorees is Representative Mary Littleton, of the Tennessee General Assembly - District 78, Cheatham and part of Dickson counties. Representative Littleton has been a tireless advocate for kids in the Tennessee General Assembly by encouraging investments in our summer nutrition programs.
Summer has traditionally been the hungriest time of year for children, when regular school meals aren't available. Thanks to hard-fought policy wins that allow for flexible options like multi-day meal distribution and home deliveries, summer meals are reaching kids in remote corners of our state.
"No Kid Hungry is proud to honor Representative Mary Littleton for her tireless work to ensure kids in all communities receive the food they need, especially during these summer months,” said Marissa Spady, No Kid Hungry Tennessee state campaign senior manager. “Thanks to her efforts, thousands of kids can count on healthy meals all summer, allowing them to return to school in the fall healthy and ready to learn.”
