Like most new ventures, a fashion boutique that recently opened in downtown Ashland City began with a humble idea and blossomed into a shop that sells out of new items as soon as they hit the shelves. Raenna Varney and Destiny Hudson told The Post in an online interview that they came up with the plan for Sweet Raes of Sunshine on Cumberland Street when Varney began designing t-shirts a few years ago, and it took off from there. Both also worked in retail while in high school and learned the ins and outs of making the most of their products and space. They were so glad to see their dream come true with their grand opening in early July.
Varney and Hudson said their shop stands out from all the big retailers by offering better quality fashion at affordable prices. They offer clothing for children, women (including plus sizes), as well as kids’ fidget toys and shoes.
Local shoppers have welcomed them with open arms, they said, with items selling out the same day Sweet Raes of Sunshine received them. “We have been blown away by the community’s support!” they said.
Sweet Raes of Sunshine is located at 101 Cumberland St. in Ashland City, Tenn. Their phone is 615-481-1148.
