Miller Named New Asst. Harpeth Middle Principal

-Cheatham County School District

The Cheatham County School District has named Karley Miller as the new assistant principal at Harpeth Middle School. Miller, an English teacher at HMS, replaces Dana Bates, who recently retired. She will begin her new duties Oct. 19.

"Being given the opportunity to serve at Harpeth Middle School as the assistant principal alongside Dr. Fowler is an absolute honor. I am so passionate about representing the teachers and students at Harpeth Middle School. Stepping into this role, my goals are to serve well, love well, and inspire positive change. This community has such a big piece of my heart, and I am simply so grateful for the chance to continue serving at HMS,” she said.

A 2010 graduate of Harpeth High School, Miller earned a bachelor’s degree in education in December 2014 from Lee University, where she was a standout basketball player. While at Lee, she played in the national tournament all four years and earned two national championship runner-up titles. Miller received her master’s degree in education leadership from Western Governor’s University in April 2019. She is currently working on her doctorate in leadership and professional practices from Trevecca Nazarene University and is scheduled to graduate in April 2022.

Miller was a member of the district’s 2019-2020 Aspiring Administrators Academy, a program in which educators learn more about leadership roles of an administrator. In 2019, she was named the head girls basketball coach at HHS – a position she will continue to hold.

Before joining the HMS staff in 2017, Miller served as an English teacher and head girls basketball coach at H.G. Hill Middle School in Nashville.
