Middle School Wrestling Season Comes to a Close in Cheatham County

Wresting fans were treated to some fantastic Middle School wrestling on December 18, 2021, to bring the local middle school wrestling season to an end at the 2021 Middle Cumberland Area Conference Championship.


This year's event was hosted at Harpeth High School with 12 teams of wrestlers competing in 14 individual weight classes.


Teams were allowed to bring up to two wrestlers to compete for the top four positions in each weight class. In addition to the individual competition, the teams earned team points based on the individual success of their wrestlers.

Springfield Middle earned first place as a team with 223 points.


The overall team placements on the day were Springfield - 223 points, Richview - 205.5 points, Greenbrier - 185 points, Rossview - 153 points, Cheatham - 140 points, Fairview - 115.5 points, Charlotte - 113 points, Burns - 90 points, East Robertson - 89 points, Dickson - 74 points, Sycamore - 60.5 points, and Harpeth - 40 points.

Locally, Cheatham Middle School placed 5th (140 points) with five wrestlers placing in the top 4 of their weight classes: Cody Canada 1st place - 76lbs, Andrew Pate - 3rd place 99lbs, Evan Ehmen 2nd place - 106lbs, Braeden Capps 4th place - 131lbs, and LA Ortiz 1st place - 165lbs.

Sycamore Middle placed 11th (60.5 points) with three wrestlers placing in the top 4 of their weight classes: Tyler Knight 4th place - 76lbs, Case Hardin 4th place - 83lbs, and Colton Long 3rd place - 125lbs.

Harpeth Middle placed 12th with 40 points with two wrestlers placing in the Top 4 of their weight classes: Owen Ellen 4th place - 113lbs and Jake Parsley 4th place - 151lbs.
