Local Wrestling Wrap-up: December 5- 10, 2022

Wrestling season is in full swing in Cheatham County. Here are the wrap-ups from December 5 through December 10, 2022, for Sycamore Middle, Sycamore High, Cheatham Middle, and Cheatham High:


Cheatham Middle School -

On Monday, December 5, Cheatham Middle went to Burns to wrestle Burns and Dickson Middle schools. Cheatham bested Dickson by a score of 51 -36 before falling to Burns by a score of 30 - 51.


Cheatham Middle was back in action at home on Friday, December 9, hosting Springfield and Sycamore Middle schools. Cheatham lost to Springfield by a score of 36-45 before beating Sycamore by a score of 54-30.


All three Cheatham County middle school wrestling programs wrap up their wrestling season on Saturday, December 17, at the Mid-Cumberland Area Conference (MCAC) Individual Championships at Fairview where 15 wrestlers from each middle school weight class will earn the title of MCAC Champion.


Sycamore Middle School -

Sycamore Middle School wrestling was in action on Monday, December 5, at home, hosting Harpeth and Rossview Middle. Sycamore lost to Harpeth by a score of 27-42, and tied with Rossview Middle at 41-41. Given the season Duals were held last month, the coaches left the score as tied instead of searching through criteria to determine a duals winner. They agreed it was more about the mat time for the wrestlers.


Sycamore traveled to Cheatham Middle on December 9, and lost to both Springfield and Cheatham.


Cheatham County Central High - On Tuesday, December 6, Cheatham County Central High Schoo (CCCHS) went to Montgomery Central High School to wrestle Clarksville Northeast and Montgomery Central. CCCHS lost both dual matches by scores of 12-60 and 21-54 to Northeast and Montgomery Central, respectively. CCCHS was back in action on Thursday, December 8, at Franklin High School where they lost matches to Franklin High (9-72) and Clarksville High (16-57). On Saturday, December 10, 2022, Cheatham County Central High hosted the annual Cheatham County Central High Duals Tournament. Eight teams participated this year in they tournament: Cheatham, Montgomery Central, Springfield, Fairview (two teams - Black and Gold), Greenbrier, Creek Wood, and Harpeth High Schools. Fairview Black and Gold were the ultimate winners, taking first and second places while Montgomery Central bested Creek Wood for third place.


Cheatham lost matches to Greenbrier (22-54), Fairview Black (6-72), and Montgomery Central (35-48). Cheatham County Head Coach, Jeremy Boyd, shared that the Cheatham team is a young team, and received some good mat-time experience with the tournament.

Sycamore High - On Tuesday, December 6, Sycamore High wrestled in a tri-match with Battle Ground Academy (BGA) and Hillsboro at BGA. Sycamore was victorious on the evening, besting BGA with a score of 42-30 and Hillsboro with a score of 42-15. On Thursday, December 8, Sycamore High went to Rossview where they wrestled Rossview and McCracken County (KY). Sycamore bested McCracken 43-36 before losing to Rossview 24-50.

Sycamore High participated in the Slamfest Wrestling Tournament held at Clarksville High on Saturday, December 10. Sycamore faced five teams on the day, and finished with a record of 2-3: Hendersonville (L 28-34), Memphis University School (W 47-30), Centenial High (W 47-24), Mt. Juliet (L36-45), and Franklin (L24-45).
