Local Wrestlers Celebrate Success at Individual State Tourney

Wrestlers from all three Cheatham County High Schools represented at the TSSAA Individual High School Wrestling Tournament held on February 23-25, 2023 at the Williamson County Agricultural Center in Franklin, Tennessee.

Cheatham County Central High School (CCCHS) was represented by four wrestlers: Derek Walton (106lbs), Amanda Thomason (114lbs Girls), Adan Alavarez (132lbs) and Daniel White (170lbs). Sycamore High School (SHS) was represented by seven wrestlers: Trey Moreland (126lbs), Dylan Davenport (138lbs), Luke London (145lbs), Seth Johnson (170lbs), Logan Heckert (182lbs), Nathan Heathman (195lbs), and Evan Dixon (285lbs). Harpeth High School (HHS) was represented by four wrestlers: Hudson Fry (113lbs), Landon Turner (120lbs), Thomas Magness (160lbs), and A.J. Rigby (220lbs).


Despite losses from the day one of the competition, no wrestlers were eliminated from the 16-wrestler bracketed tournament in the double-elimination format.


Day two narrowed each weight bracket to the top six wrestlers. At the conclusion of day three, CCCHS had Adan Alvarez (132lbs) taking 6th place and Daniel White (170lbs) taking 4th place. SHS had Dylan Davenport (138lbs) taking 6th place due to a medical forfeit, Luke London (145lbs) taking 2nd place, and Logan Heckert (182lbs) taking 2nd place. HHS had Landon Turner (120lbs) take 3rd place and Thomas Magness (160lbs) earning State Champion- first place.


Sycamore's Logan Heckert received the Division A best match award for the 182 lb. championship match.
