The Sycamore Lady Knights attended the Lady Bobcats Invitational on August 5 and 6, 2022 held at Dickson High School.

On Friday evening, the Knights, coached by Head Coach Kenneth Binkley and Assistant Coach Shawn Canterbury, took on Burns Middle. The matchup began with a series of skilled passes and teamwork that led to the team's first goal scored by eighth-grader Olivia Binkley. Sycamore went into halftime with a 2-0 lead after Kylie Mundy (8th) scored the Knights' second goal.

In the second half, the Lady Knights locked down their defense allowing their offense to continue their on-field magic. Binkley added two more goals; Casey Steel and Baylee Baggett also each added a point to close the game out with a final score of 6-0.

"The girls really impressed us this past weekend," said Head Coach Kenneth Binkley. "They came out passing really well and showed patience- not forcing bad passes. Definitely a great group of girls who work together to achieve our goals as a team."

Game two was played on Saturday morning against the Lady Dragons of Dickson Middle. Kylie Mundy, with an assist from Casey Steel, scored the first goal of the game for the Lady Knights. A few minutes later, Mundy assisted Binkley on another goal, bringing the score to 2-0.

The Lady Knights then began to open up their offense which was backed by a rock-solid defense, keeping the Lady Dragons out of scoring position. Binkley would move on to add three more goals, and Mundy also added another. Goals were also scored by Sophie Garzmann and Abby Childress to round out the 9-0 victory for Sycamore.

The Lady Knights continued their streak in the third matchup of the pre-season invitational where they faced their Lady Cub rivals. With four back-to-back goals from Binkley, followed by goals from Clare Carmack and Steel, the Knights finished the half with an impressive 6-0 lead.

The second half of the rivalry matchup delivered more of the same. Two more goals by Steel, and one by Scarlet Nichols, allowed the Lady Knights to celebrate a 9-0 victory. This win brought their tournament total to 24 points- shutting down all three opponents entirely.

"The girls played with hustle and intensity," Assistant Coach Shawn Canterbury added. "We are really excited about this team; how they prepare and remain consistent throughout the season will determine how we meet our goals."

The Lady Knights kicked-off their regular season this evening, August 8, against the Dickson Middle Lady Dragons. The ladies from Pleasant View continued their "shutout streak," beating them 7-0. Binkley scored three goals, Steel scored two, and Caroline Thompson and Baylee Baggett each added one.

"The defensive team was rock solid," Coach Binkley said of tonight's victory. "A great team win for the Lady Knights!"
