Halfway through regular season play, the Sycamore Lady Knights remain undefeated. With just four regular games remaining on the schedule, the ladies from Pleasant View are on track to close it out with a true winning season.

"We are super excited about how the first half of the season has played out," says Assistant Coach Shawn Canterbury. "We must continue to grow and execute and play with consistency to reach our goals."

Game Recaps:

After going 3-0 in the preseason tournament, the Lady Knights' regular season kicked off on August 8, 2022, at Dickson Middle where they celebrated their first victory with a 7-0 win over the Dragons. Olivia Binkley scored three goals, Casey Steel scored two, and Caroline Thompson and Baylee Baggett each had one. Backed by a rock-solid defense, goal keeper Abby Childress had an in-goal shutout.

On August 10, the Lady Knights hosted the Lady Indians of Harpeth Middle. The Knights jumped out to a quick lead with Hayden Mitchell scoring the first goal shortly after kickoff. The Lady Knights proceeded to score seven straight goals, taking an 8-0 lead into halftime. Kya Harvey scored the final goal of the game, giving the Lady Knights a 9-0 victory. Binkley had four goals, Steel had 2, and Sophie Garzmann added one. With the Knights' defense continuing to keep scoring opportunities to a minimum. Abby Childress had another shutout in goal.

The Lady Knights traveled to face the Lady Bearcats at Cheatham Middle on August 15 where their stellar defense continued to lock down their opponents. Steel scored the first three goals of the game, taking a 3-0 lead into halftime. Binkley went on to score four straight goals which put the Knights up by seven, before Steel tacked on one more goal to close out the game, 8-0. Steel, Harvey, Thompson, and Scarlet Nichols all had assists in the game. Childress had another shutout in goal.

On August 22, the Knights returned home to host the Lady Falcons of Fairview Middle School. The Lady Falcons came in with a strong offensive game plan, but the Pleasant View natives' defense was able to stop them at every turn. The two teams matched up well, leading to a 0-0 score at the half. The defensive battle continued in the second half, but with less than three minutes to go, Steel was able to find the net. Binkley soon followed up with a goal of her own to take the final score to 2-0. Childress had yet another shutout in goal.

Today, August 31, the ladies faced Dickson Middle for their second matchup of the season. This time, the Lady Knights celebrated a 9-0 win with the defense and Childress leading the way. Binkley finished with four goals and two assists, Steel scored three goals, and Nichols and Garzman each contributed one.

“I’m really proud of this group of young ladies," Coach Kenneth Binkley says of his Lady Knights. "They’ve shown us that they will work hard, and work together, to achieve our goals for this season! They’ve got a drive to win...even in practice there is always some sort of competition amongst them. It’s definitely fun to watch and makes our job that much better. Special recognition to our defense; these girls have stepped up big and kept opponents clear of the net."
