High School Seniors Encouraged to Apply for Mayfield 4-H Scholarship

-Sierra A. Knaus, Extension Agent

All graduating high school seniors are invited to apply for the John E. Mayfield 4-H Scholarship. Mr. Mayfield established this 4-H scholarship in 2002. It was awarded for the first time in 2003 and has been awarded every year since. This scholarship is established through the Tennessee 4-H Foundation. The John E. Mayfield Scholarship Endowment will continue to grow and provide scholarships to graduating seniors involved in the Cheatham County 4-H Program for many years.

John Mayfield passed away in 2017, but set Cheatham County 4-H up for success through his many donations. His donations are in multiple endowments allowing us to continue to make a difference in the lives of Cheatham County residents. John began his relationship with 4-H in 2002, and continued to support 4-H. 4-H is a program he believed in and wanted to give our 4-H members the opportunity to pursue a college education.

This scholarship will be awarded to outstanding graduating 4-H members. More than one scholarship will be awarded in 2021. A committee will be selected to review the applications. The application is available online at http://cheatham.tennessee.edu.

The deadline to return completed application is March 1, 2021, 4:00 pm.

For more information about the scholarship, please contact Sierra Knaus at 615-792-4420 or email sknaus@utk.edu. Cheatham County 4-H is the youth development organization of both The University of Tennessee and Tennessee State University. UT Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment.
