February 7-14 Declared Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week in Cheatham Co.

Thousands of families are impacted across the country each year by congenital heart defects, the number one birth defect in the United States (affecting one in every 100 births).

Local resident Krystle Brown has been involved promoting awareness since the birth of her daughter Everly, who was diagnosed just hours after birth in August 2019 with a murmur and VSD and Pulmonary Stenosis. She underwent open heart surgery to correct the defects. (Pictured above with Cheatham County Mayor Kerry McCarver)
