A familiar voice is back on the microphone in Cheatham County, but this time, Corky Albright is using social media as his channel of choice. The radio professional with more than 50 years in broadcasting now hosts his weekly show “Corky’s Corner” on Wednesday mornings on Facebook, live from Street Coffee in the Village.
The show features Albright’s signature announcing of news, sports, weather, and community events, as well as live guests from all over the area: Schools, sports, local business, government, and more.
Albright had retired back in 2019 after selling WQSV-AM to a broadcasting group out of Clarksville. He had been on the air there for nearly three decades. He said that he got back on the air nearly one year ago, in June 2020, because he has a fondness for radio and wanted a more flexible schedule than being on the air every day. “I’ve been in it (radio broadcasting) a long time. I just wanted something every now and then,” Albright explained.
The show helps inform people who are new to the area about local businesses and just what’s happening, he said. “A lot of folks don’t know what businesses we have, and I get a lot of calls from people who are planning events. Anything that’s happening, we’ll get them on the air to talk about it,” Albright added.
Check out “Corky’s Corner” live from Street Coffee at 238 Village Square on Wednesday mornings from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at www.facebook.com/Corkys-Corner-106595554425772/.
