During the evening hours of January 17, the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Kingston Springs Police Department, responded to a domestic assault involving threats with a firearm at 1113 Big Tom Road in Kingston Springs. The victim was able to leave the residence, prompting the initial law enforcement response.
During initial contact with the suspect, threats were made toward law enforcement, and the suspect was observed armed with a rifle. The suspect refused to comply with commands and barricaded himself inside the residence. Felony warrants for aggravated domestic assault were subsequently obtained.
Due to the suspect’s actions and threats, the Cheatham County SWAT team and crisis negotiators were requested to respond to the scene. Negotiations were initiated and continued for several hours, with multiple attempts made to reach a peaceful resolution. The suspect refused to comply, and communication eventually deteriorated. After several unsuccessful attempts to re-establish contact, SWAT members entered the residence to apprehend the suspect and discovered him deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released out of respect and because the investigation remains active and ongoing regarding the circumstances leading up to the initial domestic incident.
