Cubs Can't Break Losing Streak, Prep for Sycamore Game

-Daryell Smith

On October 16, the Hillwood Hilltoppers came to visit the Cheatham County Cubs for an evening of football.

Even though their season had been cut short, the visitors proved to be a well-disciplined and powerful team, easily dominating the Cubs. With each possession of the ball, the Hilltoppers scored, running up a halftime lead of 48-0.

The only bright point for the Cubs was the first play of the second half when quarterback Cooper Owen ran a keeper around left end for a 75-yard score.

From that point on, it was a defensive battle and the visitors returned home with a 50-7 victory.

The next game for the Cubs will be on Oct. 23 when they battle their crosstown rivals, the Sycamore War Eagles.
