Colby's Army Gears Up for Next Month's Yard Sale Extravaganza

ASHLAND CITY, TN––Colby's Army, a 501c3 nonprofit organization will hold their 4th Annual Yard Sale Extravaganza on October 16 and 17 at the Colby's Army Learning Center (1394 George Boyd Road, Ashland City, TN 37015).

The extravaganza is a yard sale, bake sale, and arts and crafts sale, combined with free fun family activities such as hiking the organization's private trails. It is the organization's largest fundraiser of the year.

Attendees can also meet a therapy horse or cat, and navigate the activity course. Most of the event will be held indoors and will be held rain or shine. The event is, quite possibly, the largest annual yard sale in Cheatham County.

Colby's Army helps people with life challenges through outreach, and interactions with animals and nature. Programs include therapeutic riding, equine assisted ground-based activities, job training, gardening, and homeless outreach.

Many local residents contribute the results of their attic, basement, and garage decluttering to the sale. Intake of donated items for the sale runs September 15 - October 15. Residents are encouraged to set up a drop-off time by emailing info@colbysarmy.org. Colby's Army volunteers can also sometimes pick up large volumes of donated items. Almost every item in good condition can be accepted, with the exception of: clothes, mattresses, large appliances, electronics, and VHS and cassette tapes.

"We will have an entire barn full of items, thousands of them, that are priced to sell," said Lisa Wysocky, the organization's executive director. "We always have a lot of very nice furniture, toys and baby items, holiday decorations, household goods, books, CDs and DVDs, lawn items, sports equipment, horse tack, small appliances, and much more."

The event is sponsored by First Financial Bank, and The Post (in memory of John E. Mayfield). Additional sponsors will be added before September 15. For information on a sponsorship, please email info@colbysarmy.org.

All proceeds go toward helping people with life challenges reach their goals. Those who would like to contribute but cannot attend the event can go to ColbysArmy.org and click on the yellow donate button. It will lead people to a PayPal page where they can type the amount of their donation. Or, checks can be mailed to Colby's Army, 1394 George Boyd Road, Ashland City, TN 37015.
