For the second year in a row, the North Cheatham Civitan Club will be spreading holiday cheer to local senior citizens.
The idea came about last year amidst the pandemic when Kelly Ellis, owner of the Livery Stables in Pleasant View, began feeding seniors through a COVID-related grant.
"After looking at the list of seniors getting meals, we decided we wanted to bring a little joy to them during Christmas," says Heather Curtis, North Cheatham Civitan President.
With hopes of continuing the tradition annually, the Pleasant View-based group of deed-doers plans to make the act of kindness bigger each year. Last year, around 200 stockings were handed out; the goal for this year is 250.
"We want to bring a little cheer and happiness to an often underserved population," Curtis adds.
