Cheatham Middle Wrestlers Working Hard Despite Early-Season Losses

On Monday, November 8, 2021, Cheatham Middle School held its first-ever home wrestling matches, facing East Robertson and Richview Middle schools.


Cheatham defeated East Robertson by a score of 48- 30, with wins coming from Jessie Reeves (pin), Andrew Pate (pin), Evan Ehman, Nicholas Hargrove, Braden Capps, William Hunter, L.A. Ortiz, Tyler Steele (pin), and Hunter Jordan(pin).


Although Cheatham was defeated by Richview Middle by a score of 60-25, wins came from Andrew Pate, Braden Capps (pin), L.A. Ortiz, Tyler Steele (pin), and Cody Canada.


On Tuesday, November 9, Cheatham traveled to Harpeth where they were defeated by Greenbrier by a score of 54-36, with wins coming from Nicholas Hargrove (pin), Tyler Steele (pin), Cody Canada (pin), Jesse Reeves, Logan Brand (pin), and Andrew Pate (pin).


Harpeth also defeated Cheatham by a score of 48-35, with wins coming from L.A. Ortiz, Tyler Steele (pin), Cody Canada (pin), Jesse Reeves (pin), Andrew Pate, and Evan Ehman (pin).


On November 15, the Bearcats lost to Fairview, 60-30, and Burns, 54-18. The Bearcats also fell to Rossview (60-30) and Cheatham (40-36) on November 19.


"This is a young team of mostly six and seventh graders with only a couple wrestlers having mat experience prior to this season," says Cheatham's Coaching staff.

"It is early in the season, and our guys are working hard. They are listening to the coaches and making much improvement with each match. We could not be more proud of the progress and drive our guys are illustrating on the mat," said Cheatham's head wrestling coach, Jeremy Boyd.
