15 wrestlers from Cheatham County high schools qualified to compete in the TSSAA State Wrestling Championship, held Friday, February 20, and Saturday, February 21, at the Williamson County Ag Center. The qualifiers included three wrestlers from Sycamore High School, nine from Cheatham County Central High School, and three from Harpeth High School.
Two Cheatham County wrestlers earned state medals during the competition. Cheatham County Central’s Rogelio (Roger) Gonzalez placed second in the 285-pound weight class, marking the school’s second state finalist in the past 18 years. Cheatham County Central finished 20th overall out of 58 teams.
Harpeth High School’s Tanner Aldridge earned a fifth-place finish in the 150-pound weight class. Harpeth finished 31st overall, while Sycamore High School finished 30th in the team standings.
Qualifying for the state tournament requires wrestlers to advance through sectional competition, placing them among the top competitors in their respective weight classes across Tennessee.
