Cheatham Co. Wrestlers Represent at TSSAA State Tourney

The TSSAA State Wresting Tournament was held at the Williamson County Ag Expo Center on February 24-26, 2022.


Cheatham County was well represented in this year's tournament with 19 high school wrestlers from Harpeth, Cheatham County Central, and Sycamore. Wrestling began on Thursday afternoon with two rounds on the champion side of the bracket. All wrestlers returned Friday morning for weigh-ins and resumed wrestling at 10:00 a.m.

Unfortunately, the following did not advance to the placing rounds of the tournament: Landon Morris, Daniel White, Ian Reed, Spencer Hendrix from Cheatham County Central; Trey Moreland, Nathan Thorbjornsen, and Evan Dixson from Sycamore High (Preston Castleberry was unable to compete due to injury prior to the tournament); Harpeth High wrestlers not advancing were Hudson Fry, Landon Turner, and Dakota Delang, (Cooper Edwards was unable to finish the tournament due to illness).


On Saturday, the final day of the tournament, all third and fifth place matches were held in the morning with the Championship Finals held later in the day.


Sycamore High's Dylan Davenport (126 lbs) won by fall over his Soddy Daisey opponent for 3rd place. Dalen Kimble (138 lbs) won by decision over Eagleville for 1st place - State Champion. Luke London (145 lbs) took 2nd place against his Greeneville opponent. Logan Heckert (160 lbs) won by major decision over his Page opponent for 1st place - State Champion. Cheatham County Central's Adan Alvarez (132 lbs) took 4th place against his Knoxville Halls opponent. Harpeth High's Taylor Turner (113 lbs) took 4th against his Hillwood opponent, and Thomas (Tell) Magness (152 lbs) finished in 3rd place by decision over his Tullahoma opponent.
