Cheatham Co. Art League Celebrates Two-day Masterpiece

The Art League of Cheatham County held their first annual Art Gala at The Coach House in Pleasant View on the evening of Sept 25. With over 100 attendees, the event brought in close to $2,000 to be used for summer art programs for local children.

Over the course of the evening, guests had the opportunity to browse 72 unique works of art, worth over $50,000. Three rooms were filled with exhibits, with each one featuring a signature artist: Ken Shipley, Kell Black, and Harold Lovell.

In addition to the art, members of the Nashville Symphony entertained attendees with a four-string quartet headed by Gerald Greer.

Leatherwood Distillery provided and served spirits for the event, donating monies raised back to the Art League. Catering and event space was provided by Kelly Ellis, and door prizes were provided by Legends Bank and Leatherwood Distillery.

The youngest Art League member, Abigail Lambert (13yrs), sold both of her pieces: “Scrambled” and “Peaceful Mountain.” Other artists whose original work was sold: a metal sculpture “Air Guitar” by Morris Self, an abstract painting “Vines” by Becki Vincent, and a painting “Take a Walk with Me” by Debbie Fuson. Numerous artist-signed prints of exhibited art were also purchased with proceeds benefitting the Art League.

“We are so grateful for everyone’s participation and support for this organization. Since our beginning August 2019, we currently we have over 50 members and look to grow over this next year. Our members are dedicated, excited, and enthusiastic to make The Art League of Cheatham County a household word,” said chairman, Debbie Keenan.

The next morning, a special breakfast was held at The Hampton Inn - Pleasant View, where attendees could meet and network with artists. In a free and open-to-the-public event, the Art Gala continued on through Saturday as well.

“Breakfast with the Artists at Hampton Inn was a good occasion to set up a small display of paintings not included in the art show.  I am very pleased that three of my eight paintings sold that morning and have a new home,” says artist Becki Vincent.

In April 2021, the Art League of Cheatham County will host their second juried art show that will boast Cheatham County artists exclusively.
