Body of Missing Kayaker Recovered in Ashland City

ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. A 20-year-old man has died after a kayaking accident in the Brush Creek Recreational Area in Ashland City.
It is reported that two kayakers were out in the backwash areas of the Cumberland River when one of the kayaks flipped. The victim went under the water and did not resurface. Emergency crews were notified around 1:30 p.m., on October 30, 2025 by the surviving kayaker, and the body was recovered a little after 4 p.m.
Officials confirmed that the victim was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the accident.
Both kayakers had been staying in a short-term rental in the area.
