The American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards has announced that Ashland City resident and award-winning author, trainer, instructor, and podcaster Lisa Wysocky has won the Best Podcast award for her show Celebs with Horses. The podcast features interviews with celebrities about their love of horses, and streams on the Horse Radio Network and podcast players everywhere. The award was given at a national celebration in Lexington, Kentucky on May 18.
“So many wonderful horse-related podcasts were in contention for this award; it is truly an honor to be chosen,” said Wysocky, who is a former national and international award-winning horse trainer and riding instructor, and now serves as executive director of Colby’s Army, a Cheatham County non-profit organization that helps people with life challenges through homeless outreach, therapeutic equestrian services, and organic gardening. “I still can't believe Celebs with Horses won."
In the winning episode the iconic captain of the Starship Enterprise, William Shatner, shares his work with the American Saddlebred and American Quarter Horse, among other breeds. Mr. Shatner is a lifelong horseman who has earned national recognition for his riding skills. At age ninety-plus, he still rides his reining horses most mornings, and has developed a true understanding of the horse-human connection.
“His interview was open, honest, and enthusiastic,” said Wysocky. “At times I felt as if I was getting a riding lesson from a true master, and at other times I was filled with joy listening to him talk so passionately about his relationships with his horses.”
In addition to podcasting, Wysocky is also the author of the award-winning Cat Enright equestrian mystery series, now optioned for television. In addition, Wysocky has also written several books about country music stars and their horses, along with a number of books about horses and horse training, and is a regular substitute co-host of the Horse Radio Network's flagship podcast, Horses in the Morning.
