Obituary: Johnny “John” Ray Burgess, 74


Johnny “John” Ray Burgess, age 74 of Ashland City, Tennessee died Saturday, August 29, 2020 at his home.

A private family memorial service will be held at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View.

Mr. Burgess was born on May 8, 1946 in Springfield, Tennessee to the late George and Christine Hardin Burgess. He worked as an information technology specialist at State Industries and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War. He knew how to live. He loved fishing, golf, bowling, amusement parks, putting on a fireworks display, and shopping at Toys R Us for his grandchildren. He loved his buddies so much. More than anything, he loved his amazing grandkids, his beloved daughters, and most of all, his beautiful wife of 52 years. And, of course, his cat Sam.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Burgess; daughters, Barbara (Shannon) Fiser, Debbie (Albert) Bordes; sister, Cindy (Doug) Duizer; and three grandchildren, Johnny Hale, Julianna Hale, and Olivia Bordes.
