School Board Approves Budget Proposals in Special Session

Cheatham County School Board members met in a special session via web teleconference on June 22 to consider their final budget proposals for the 2019-2020 fiscal year.

Four members were present for the meeting. Board members James Gupton, who represents the Fourth District, and John Louallen, who represents the Fifth District, were absent.

During the brief meeting, the board heard three budget recommendations. The first was for the General-Purpose School Fund and did not require more money but moving funds in the amount of $443,000 between categories, said Dr. Tara Watson, CCSD Chief Operations Officer. Board members approved the measure unanimously.

In the second proposal, board members voted in favor of transferring money between categories in the Daycare Fund in the amount of $31,000.

The board voted unanimously to approve the third and final budget recommendation, in which $7,659 in Title IA funds were to be accepted and carried over to the next fiscal year’s budget. The funds had come in late in the year and were not spent during the 2019-2020 fiscal year, according to Dr. Watson.
