Eighth graders from Sycamore Middle who didn’t get the chance to say goodbye to their classmates at the end of the school year due to the coronavirus outbreak, will have an opportunity to bid farewell at the 8th Grade Formal at The Cedars at Carr Farm in Cedar Hill.
About 40 to 50 students are expected to attend the event, which will be held on Thursday, July 9, from 7 – 10 p.m.
According to Jennifer Young, event spokesperson, she and the other moms who organized the formal are thankful for a venue with a large amount of indoor and outdoor space, allowing students to spread out in accordance with social distancing.
“We do plan to follow the current CDC guidelines for the state of Tennessee,” Young said, with hand sanitizer throughout as well as soap and water available in the restrooms. Attendees may wear their own masks, and a few will be available at the event for anyone that may want one.
Students can also bring their yearbooks to the event, so they can sign and share memories with their friends. Parents may help with chaperoning, decorations, refreshments, and snacks.
The cost is $20 per student and payment may be made via VENMO to @Jennifer-Young-349. Students can pay at the door as well.
The event is not sponsored by SMS and will be held rain or shine.
