Obituary: Billy Glenn Cothran, 84


Billy Glenn Cothran, age 84, of Cedar Hill, Tennessee, died June 3, 2020 at his home.

There will be a private family visitation at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View. A private graveside service will follow at Friendship Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Joey Myers and Bro. Cecil Boswell officiating. Curtis Cothran, Brian Cothran, Stephen Cothran, Blake Atkinson, Spencer Cothran, and Carl Cothern will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Cothran was born on April 24, 1936, in Ashland City, Tennessee to the late Edward and Goldie Perry Cothran. He was a retired as a truck driver for over 30 years and loved to farm. He loved to grow sweet potatoes and was known to some as the “water melon man”. After retiring, one of his hobbies was making musical instruments. He was a member of Friendship Free Will Baptist Church and currently attending Liberty Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Dianne Noffsinger and Barbara Jayne Binkley.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Cothran; sons, Curtis (Becky) Cothran, Brian (Tracy) Cothran, Stephen Cothran; daughter, Denise Cothran (friend, Ken Reigard); brothers, Carl (Bonnie) Cothern, Charlie (Paulette) Cothern; grandchildren, Blake (Emma) Atkinson, Spencer Cothran, Macie Cothran; and great-grandson, Maverick Atkinson.

If so desired, the family request memorial contributions be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Pl., Memphis, Tn. 38105.
