Dr. Beck Reflects Upon 'Unprecedented' School Year, Making Plans to Reopen in August

In an email addressed to parents, Director of Schools Dr. Cathy Beck shares her thoughts on the 2020 school year:

Dear Cheatham County Families,

As we approach the end of this unprecedented school year, I wanted to reach out to thank you for all that you did to partner with us to finish. As I reflect on this challenging experience in which there is no manual to use to navigate I have learned many things including:

  • School is so much more than a building!

  • Being able to see each other and interact is so much more important than I ever realized!

  • Technology access is inequitable and we must work to get this solved, not only in Cheatham County, but across the nation.

  • Chick Fil-A has nothing on us in terms of drive through organization!

  • There are many things I will never take for granted again!

  • School district staff and BOE members are innovative thinkers, problem solvers and heroes in every sense of the word for trying relentlessly to meet the needs of students

We are working diligently to make plans to reopen in August. We will have options for you parents in terms of delivery.

We appreciate your feedback in the surveys that you have completed and we are taking every bit of this to heart in the hopes of better being able to serve you.

Please have a wonderful summer and thank you for partnering with us in the education of your children!

-Dr. Beck
