Meet Sycamore High's 2020 Salutatorian and Valedictorian


Daniel Saylor

Daniel Saylor is the valedictorian of the Sycamore High School Class of 2020. During his time at SHS, he was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society), Science National Honor Society, Technology Student Association and Bible Club. He was also in the band (marching and concert) and played both basketball and soccer. Saylor’s top two accomplishments in high school were in sports and academics. He was named the District 9-AA Most Valuable Player in basketball both his junior and senior years. Academically, he was named a National Merit Finalist.

His favorite high school memory was his birthday in his sophomore year. He got his driver's permit during the day, and that night, he had his first-ever dunk in a game - against Harpeth High School.

Saylor will be attending the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where he will play basketball and study mechanical engineering.

Catie McLachlan

Catie McLachlan is the salutatorian of the Sycamore High School Class of 2020. She was a member of the Lady War Eagles softball team, HOSA, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society) and Science National Honor Society. McLachlan’s top accomplishment was receiving her associate’s degree from Austin Peay State University while in high school through dual-enrollment courses.

Her favorite high school memory was learning and making memories with her friends for four years.

McLachlan plans to attend Trevecca Nazarene University, where she will play softball and double major in biology and chemistry with a pre-medical focus.
