Children and grown-ups alike across Cheatham County received a sweet surprise during the week of Easter. Since many Easter Bunny photo sessions and egg hunts were cancelled by the coronavirus outbreak, the fuzzy friend practiced social distancing and rode in a black Jeep to as many neighborhoods as possible.
This creative way to bring some fun to the Easter holiday was brainstormed by some folks who were worried COVID-19 and the subsequent shelter at home order were going to take away most of the fun.
Amanda Bell Williams, owner of At Home Realty, said her friend, Peggy Smith Pulley, local attorney, saw someone in another county dressing up as the Easter Bunny and thought it would be a novel way to brighten up the days of children at home and seniors in local nursing homes.
“People of all ages were so glad to see us,” Williams said. “It makes me smile inside the costume to see that they’re happy. We can get so bombarded by negativity out there right now,” she said.
Williams and Pulley spoke with the local authorities to get permission to take their very small Easter Parade on the road to as many neighborhoods as they could in Ashland City, Pleasant View, Kingston Springs, and Pegram.
To be safe, the procession didn’t stop except at nursing homes so the Easter Bunny could wave to residents looking out from their windows.
