Elizabeth Fowlkes Chilcote, age 99, formerly of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at The Village at Bellevue in Nashville.
A private family graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 11, at the Fowlkes Cemetery in Centerville, Tennessee with her nephew Doug Breece officiating. Family will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Chilcote was born on January 24, 1921, in Centerville, Tennessee to the late Douglas Newton and Lessie Morrison Fowlkes. She was a bookkeeper at Joe Claud Electrical for many years and was a charter member of the Pleasant View First Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Walter E. Chilcote; brothers, James B. Fowlkes and Owen Fowlkes.
Mrs. Chilcote is survived by a son, John (Lucretia) Chilcote of Bellevue, Washington; a daughter, Lucinda (Bobby) Tidwell of Bon Aqua; sisters, Janie Grisham of Nashville, Peggy (Joe) Claud of Chapmansboro, Wylodean (Fulton) Pendergrass of Bon Aqua; sister-in-law, Carlene Fowlkes of Portland; grandchildren, Jeff (Amanda) Kemp, Tammy (Marty) Benefield, Wendy (Ty) Strickland, Walter “Jay” (Jamie) Chilcote, Raymond (Lanie) Chilcote, Joseph (Melissa) Chilcote; and twenty great-grandchildren.
