Extension to offer new Health & Wellness Ambassador Program

Are you interested in health, nutrition, and being physically active? Do you want to help others live healthier lives?

Tennessee Extension is now taking applications for a new Extension Health & Wellness Ambassador Program. The first of its kind offered in the state, this master volunteer program will teach participants simple strategies to improve their own health and the health of their neighbors in Cheatham county.

The Extension Health & Wellness Ambassador training program will be offered over five sessions held Tuesdays from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Sessions will be held at Pleasant View First Baptist Church. Enrollment is limited. Following training, Extension Health & Wellness Ambassador volunteers agree to give back 40 hours of service to help others live healthier lives.

Training content includes instruction on healthy eating, exercise to improve balance and flexibility, preventing and managing chronic disease, health behavior change strategies that stick, and other special topics.

Extension professionals, health professionals, and other specialists in their field will conduct all training. The $125 registration fee covers all training materials.

Final selection of participants will be made from applications and interviews. Apply by March 13, 2020 to be considered for the program. For details and application form, contact the Cheatham County Extension office at 615-792-4420, or email adodd2@utk.edu.

UT Extension offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, religion or veteran status.
