Type 2 Diabetes: A Family Affair

Everyone in the home is affected by the diagnosis of diabetes. The Cheatham County Ut/TSU Extension Office will be offering Type 2 Diabetes: A Family Affair event on Monday, March 16 at the David McCullough Room, 322 Frey Street, Ashland City, TN 37015.

The interactive, hands-on program will begin at 6:00 p.m. and run approximately 2 hours. This class is FREE and open to anyone with diabetes and their family members or anyone at risk for diabetes.

“I really encourage the entire family to join in on this conversation,” states Aneta Eichler, UT/TSU Extension Agent. “It is important for the family to understand the perimeters of eating and how to best support their loved one.”

Participants will learn what constitutes a healthy meal, how to create a healthy meal, and identify healthy choices from each food group.

Resource materials will be shared with each family in attendance.

Diabetes is a very serious and costly disease, but research has shown that those who learn to manage their blood sugar levels, eat a healthy diet, and exercise regularly can lower their risk of complications. People with diabetes can lead a healthy and productive life when they manage their disease.

This program is FREE but space and materials are limited. Please reserve your spot today by calling the Cheatham County Extension Office at 615-792-4420. Deadline to register is March 13, 2020.
